It’s a Slam Dunk for the Nicholson Catholic College Chapter!

Sometimes the best group activities are the simplest. Nicholson Buddy Casey Moore is an avid basketball fan. He was the inspiration for the chapter’s latest group activity – a basketball day! The school’s entire basketball team and coach came out on a Saturday to help the Nicholson chapter members brush up on their dribbling and shooting skills.

Says Chapter Co-President Sarah Letersky, “it was very easily planned. We spoke to the senior boys basketball coach, and he gave us permission and arranged to have the boys come out for a few hours. We then had to confirm with our principal that it would be okay to use the gym for a few hours on the weekend, which was no problem. Abby [Emdin, chapter Co-President] and I bought some cookies, water, juice and a few prizes that were a big hit.”

The event was a lot of fun for the chapter, as well as for the basketball team. Says Sarah, “The boys were very impressed with the Best Buddies program and a few were even interested in receiving information on how to join.” A great way to involve the greater school community in the Best Buddies chapter.
