The winner of the James Raymond Cowling High School Scholarship is Kim Higgins the Chapter President at the Dr. Martin LeBoldus chapter in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Kim has not only worked hard to strengthen the chapter in her school community, but also to increase the number of her peers involved in the chapter.  She involved herself with the 2010/11 “Spread-the-Word-to-End-the-Word” campaign and even made presentations at other local schools about the Best Buddies program.  Some of these schools have gone on to establish their own Best Buddies chapters!

However, her efforts did not end there.  Kim also organized caroling at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, a “pie-in-the-face” fundraiser, and numerous other community events for her chapter. 

She makes sure that the chapter’s events are held both in and outside of school to ensure that the buddies get out into the community!  As Kim explains, “there isn’t a school day that goes by without doing something in relation to Best Buddies.”
