"Read All About It " returns
for 4th amazing year.

March 2012 is the sixth annual Best Buddies Month. It’s a fantastic time to get together with other Best Buddies members in your area and show the community the power of friendship! To celebrate this, Best Buddies Canada and Chapters-Indigo are presenting the fourth annual Read All About It event in eighteen Chapters/Indigo bookstores across the country. On Saturday, March 3rd from 1pm to 3pm, we are inviting buddy pairs to join us in celebrating reading and friendship.
This year, we expect more than 1,000 Best Buddies chapter members to attend at eighteen locations across the country.
Confirmed special guests include:
- Astrid Braunschmidt, CTV News Weather Anchor (Victoria)
- City Councillor and Acting Mayor, Lisa Helps (Victoria)
- Deputy Mayor Andrea Reimer (Vancouver)
- Dawn Chubai from Vancouver Breakfast Television (Vancouver)
- Dani Rohs from The Bounce radio station (Edmonton)
- Councillor Scott Fielding (Winnipeg)
- Mayor Halloran (Waterloo)
- DJ Davin (Toronto)
- Deputy Mayor Schell (Kingston)
- Councillor Mathieu Fleury (Ottawa)
- Madeleine Meilleur, MPP (Ottawa)
- Jocelyn Ann Campbell, Member of the Executive Committee (Montreal)
- Mayor Peter Kelly (Halifax)
- Mel B. from 101.3 The Bounce and Deb Smith from C100FM (Halifax)
- Mayor Brad Woodside (Fredericton)
- Uncle Rob from 105.3 The Fox and Paula Breckon from 106.9 Capital FM (Fredericton)
Each buddy pair that registers will receive a $20 Chapters-Indigo gift card (while supplies last) to share! Buddy pairs can register by clicking on the name of their city on the side bar. For chapters with groups over 10 people, please email the name of your school, the location you will be attending, and a list of the Peer Buddies and their Buddies to kayla@bestbuddies.ca.
This year, we are inviting all Best Buddies participants to write a rap or a poem about Best Buddies. The writers of the best rap/poems at each location will be invited to perform their piece at the event. If you’d like to take part in this, be sure that you send your rap/poem to your Program Manager by February 26th.
Registration closes on February 26th. There will be a limited number of gift cards, so apply early to ensure that you get yours.
Come on out and show your spirit and enthusiasm, by wearing your favourite Best Buddies clothes. You can also purchase a limited edition t-shirt Best Buddies Read All About It T-Shirt. Order your Read All About It t-shirt for only $10 when you register to attend! Payment can be made on the day of the event in cash.
This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever, with lots of special guests and fun readings.
We look forward to seeing you there!
