Best Buddies Scholarships for Outstanding Volunteers
En Français
If you have made a significant contribution to your chapter, or the Best Buddies program, you may be eligible for some financial support for your education.
At Best Buddies we understand the hard work and dedication made by our Student Buddies and recognize the central role they play to our program.
To recognize the efforts of our exceptional volunteers we are offering scholarships to assist Peer Buddies and Buddies with their post-secondary education, open to students in their final year of high school and those already at university or college.
The James Raymond Cowling University & College Scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to a successful Peer Buddy or Buddy involved in a university or college chapter. The James Raymond Cowling High School Scholarship of $500, will be presented to a Peer Buddy or Buddy, in their final year of High School, preparing to begin post-secondary education.
To be considered, university/college applicants should be involved with Best Buddies for at least two years, while high school applicants should be involved for at least one year. Applicants should have made a notable achievement to their chapter, or the larger Best Buddies program, either through raising awareness, fundraising, supporting Buddy friendships in their school, attending Best Buddies special events, assisting with special events or fundraisers, or any other worthy contribution.
To apply for these exciting opportunities, students should download and complete the application form, demonstrating their eligibility and the reason why they think they should be considered for a scholarship.
Applications should include:
- The number of hours spent volunteering with Best Buddies
- One reference letter. This reference should give more information about your contribution to Best Buddies
- A detailed description of a way in which the applicant has contributed to Best Buddies
Applications are due April 15th, 2012. Recipients will be announced in May 2012, and the scholarships will be presented at the beginning of the new school year in September 2012.
Good Luck!
